He has taken five WICKETS in two games at the MLC 2025.
The IPL 2026 auction could be five months away, but the franchises will closely monitor the T20 circuit. Akeal Hosein, the Western Indies, is among the players to boost their case for an offer in the cash rich tournament.
The 33 -year -old has an immense experience in the format, after having played in multiple T20 leagues worldwide. Hosein has played two games in the continuous Cricket of the Major Leagues (MLC) 2025 for Texas Super Kings. He has chosen 2 for 10 in three overs against the Knight Riders. In the second game against my New York, he chose 3 for 15 in four overs. This performance when no other bowling player in the game had an economy of less than 10 was really exceptional.
In the last 12 months, the Orthodox Roulette of the left arm has taken 51 WICKETS in the Cricket T20 in an economy of 7.43. His numbers with the bat have not been great, but he has the ability to offer shocking cameos.
Hosein has played only an IPL game, in 2023, when he was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad. IPL franchises generally do not have a high content of spinners abroad, but having a set of secondary skills could help the Hosein case. Here we take a look at three teams that could attack him at the IPL 2026 auction.
KKR to go for Hosein Akeal at an IPL 2026 auction
The IPL 2024 winners had a forgettable campaign this year, since they failed to find an ideal combination in the season. Kolkata Knight Riders played Moeen Ali in six games. The off -road offset chose six WICKETS in an economy of 8.50.
KKR could use someone like Akeal Hosein. Not only is it one of the best defensive T20 sparrows in the world, but it would contribute variety to turn attack. You can complement Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarth’s couple. Hosein has been part of the Knight Riders franchise in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). That connection also increases its possibilities.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) needs a spin renewal
Rajasthan Royals had torrid time with his bowling unit at IPL 2025 when they ended up ninth. Spending INR 9.65 million rupees in Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana did not work at all. Both Sri Lanka spinners were very expensive and could not choose enough Wickts. RR is likely to free them before the IPL 2026 auction.
Akeal Hosein may not be a bad option to replace the duo. He is a much better T20 Bowling player and offers more full value. The real ones do not have a established left arm spinner and there are not many in the market on the same level as Hosein.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) could see Akeal Hosein
Lucknow Super Giants is another franchise that does not have a set of established left arm. They have M Siddharth, who played only two games in the previous edition. They do not have a roulette abroad at the squad and Akeal could fit well.
It is possible that Hosein does not have regular opportunities in the LSG playing XI, but it could be an excellent support. If your Indian pacemakers remain fit, the SUV can be a valuable asset for the franchise.
