He delivered his worst IPL season in a decade for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Mohammed Shami is one of the best bowling players in India in the formats. He showed his white ball skills in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, winning the purple cap with 28 WICKETS in just 17 games and, often, establishing the game for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the power of power. However, his trip since then has not been so impressive. The entire IPL 2024 season was lost due to an injury and was released by GT before the IPL 2025 auction.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) agreed to Shami for a 10 million rupees, but the right -handed pacemaker seemed out of rhythm and control. He delivered his worst numbers in the IPL 2025, ending with only six WICKETS in nine games, averaging 56.16 and an economy rate of 11.23. After disappointing actions in this year’s season, SRH could try to adjust its bowling resources and free Shami before the mini-auction IPL 2026. Then, let’s analyze which three teams will attack him in the auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Kolkata Knight Riders assured the title of IPL 2024 under the leadership duo of Captain Shreyas Iyer and the Gautam Gambler mentor. With Shreyas moving to another franchise and Gambhir assuming the chief coach of India, KKR found himself in a strange phase in IPL 2025. They also lacked Mitchell Starc factor X and the consistency of the Indian pacemakers. Therefore, KKR will seek to ensure Shami’s services to strengthen his indio rhythm bowling attack with Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora and Cetan Sakariya. Bengal’s pacemaker could make a powerful opening pair with Vaibhav Arora.
The inclusion of the 34 -year -old in KKR could also have an emotional touch. Shami has represented Bengala in the domestic cryket for years. His return home may seem a sentimental return. It has also gone well in the iconic Eden Gardens, claiming seven WICKETS in five games in an economy of 10. Although their recent performances are not so impressive, KKR could seek to acquire Shami’s services to add experience to his rhythm attack.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
The Lucknow Super Giants rhythm bowling unit lacked consistency and control with the new ball. His power bowling alley was the least threatening among the 10 teams. They carried only 18 WICKETS in the power game in IPL 2025, the second lowest by a team. What is worse were their other statistics: an economy rate of 10.73, an average of 50.06, and admitted the largest number of six. LSG bowling players even failed to keep the batter batters, bolos only 184 knit balls, the lowest among all teams.
This is where Mohammed Shami could change the game with new skills and control. In addition to its IPL 2025 period, Shami has been excellent in the first six overs. In addition, its inclusion will bring a vast experience in the bowling of bowling that is full of young Indian pacemakers in Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav. Mohsin Khan also lost the 18th edition of the Rich League in cash due to an injury. If Shami finds his physical condition and rhythm, he could be a winner of the game for Lucknow.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Chennai Super Kings has a story to revive the races of veterans who have had a low season. Some outstanding names include people such as Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, FAF du plessis, Ashish Nehra and Robin Uthappa. With the departure of Deepak Chahaha and Tushar undande, CSK struggled to find a pacemaker to support the Khaleel Ahmed pacemakers. They failed the penetration of the power game and could not use the swing on offer, which once was its strength. CSK tested Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj, Mikesh Choudhary, Sam Curran, Nathan Ellis and Jamie Overton in the power game, but no one could give decent returns. Solo Khaleel (10), Kamboj (7) and Choudhary (1) could take WICKETS for the franchise last year.
Therefore, CSK could go after Shami at the mini IPL 2026 auction to fix their power bowling fights and as a mentoring figure for young pacemaker. Shami’s record in Chepauk is also decent. He has taken five WICKETS in six exits at an average of 30.80, but did not let the batters release their arms, having granted careers in an economy of only 8.10. Steven Fleming and MS Dhoni’s tactical minds could highlight the best of Mohammed Shami again.
