Royal Challengers Bengaluru said the title on Tuesday for the first time in 18 years.
The wait is over! Bengaluru is ecstatic, and why wouldn’t it be? The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have done what they wanted, prayed and expected, during the last 18 years. Virat Kohli finally has his hands in the coveted trophy. The Premier League champions of India (IPL) 2025 surpassed the challenging Punjab Kings to lift their bachelor title in Ahmedabad.
As the celebrations in abundance in the middle of the victory parade to the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore, here are the three tactical movements of the franchise that gave them an advantage to record their name on the covers.
A solved auction strategy
RCB retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal before the auctions for this season. But acquiring a decent captain like Shreyas Iyer or Rishabh Pant was never in his plans. Instead, they trusted to patidar with the work in the back of their past performances. In his 15 tickets in the 2024 season, the captain now hit 177.13, leaving a lasting impression of his batting arsenal. Josh Hazlewood, Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone were some of the best purchases for the franchise this year.

Virat Kohli and Phil Salt openers came out with the intention of playing an aggressive Crickt brand in the power game. The RCB opening torque ended the season with 318 races each in the PowerPlay. Phil Salt was the aggressor with a strike rate of 174.72 in the first six overs. To throw a certain perspective, both Kohli and Salt finished the campaign with the fifth articulation, most races in the power game for any batter.
A resistant defensive bowling unit unit
Defensive bowling were a hole in the castle of the franchise, which should be approached. And so, they went to acquire bowling players such as Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya who could play the defensive lines wonderfully. Cut until the end of the season, its economy in death (overs 17-20) was only 10.5, the second best in the 18th edition of the tournament. It does not end here. RCB balls for WICKET ratio for Pacers were only 16.7, the second best in this edition.
