4 Auction objectives for Gujarat Titans (GT) next year to fill the team gaps after the IPL 2025 departure

GT finished third in the IPL 2025 League stage before losing the eliminator.

The 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans (GT), had a great race in India Premier League (IPL) 2025 to the final stages. The side led by Shubman Gill seemed in a privileged position to ensure a superior ending to win twice to reach the IPL 2025 final. But they lost the last two group games to finish third.

The Titans, playing without Jos Buttler, lost to the Indians of Mumbai in the eliminator to get out of the tournament. Chief coach Ashish Nehra and Captain Gill made some interesting decisions throughout the season, some good, other bad. GT will have some serious questions to deal with this season. Here we take a look at four key areas that the Gujarat Titans must address at the next IPL auction.

Gujarat Titans in desperate need for quality pacemakers

The Gujarat Titans were lucky to have the best version of Prasidh Krishna throughout the IPL 20025. However, their pacemaker abroad were not factors in the tournament. His stars firm, Kagiso Rabada, lost most of the season due to his suspension for drug use.

Rabada played four games, collecting two wickts in an economy of 11.50. The pacemaker Gerald Coetzee also had two scalp in four games at 10.91 RPO. GT would like to have better rhythm bowling resources abroad in his team. The tastes of Richard Gleeson, Mustafizur Rahman, Lance Morris and Blessing of Muzarabani will be on the market in the next auction.

Strengthen the unstable lower medium order

The Gujarat Titans adopted a first level template at IPL 2025, where Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler hit a slightly restricted mentality. They had to do it due to the lack of quality batters in the average order.

They had Sherfane Rutherford, M Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, but they couldn’t trust them to hit a lot. Washington Sundar played a couple of excellent blows, but it was not a usual feature in the XI game.

One of the high priority agendas for GT in the next auction will be to sign better medium order batters. David Miller, who played for them during three editions, could be at the auction, along with Shimron Hetmyer, Mitch Owen and Michael Bracewell.

Replace Rahul Tewatia

Rahul Tewatia has had his moments, and has played a key role in order for Gujarat Titans in the past. But his game seems to have backed up to a point where management does not trust that he beats before the last four.

In the IPL 2025, Tewatia played only 59 deliveries, in which he averaged 12.37 races for dismissal and hit 167. These are not numbers that are expected of its designated finisher. Titans must find another finishing end, whether Indian or abroad.

Gujarat Titans need to add wrist spin options

Rashid Khan has dominated the batters during most of the last eight years in the IPL. But in recent years, it has been a shadow of the bowling player that once was. In the last two editions of IPL, Rashid has managed to choose only 19 WICKETS in 27 entries in an economy of 8.91.

He has not been taking wickts nor has he been able to control the execution flow. Its shape has been a great headache for the Gujarat Titans. To address this, GT should seek to obtain a couple of wrist turn options at the next IPL auction.
