Kkr could only handle five victories in 14 games in IPL 2025.
The 2024 Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) champions could not repeat the heroic in the Premier League (IPL) 2025. The former three -time winners had a disappointing campaign, winning only five of 14 games. KKR will end in the seventh or eighth place.
After winning the title in a dominant style last year, KKR faced a great challenge to rebuild the IPL 2025 team. They almost nailed their withholdings, but had a strange auction. Paying INR 23.75 million rupees for Venkatesh Iyer and not even hit it in the higher order was disconcerting. Despite having two foods in good faith, KKR could not find the correct combination.

It is likely that the Knight Riders make some difficult calls after IPL 2025. Let’s take a look at four goals in which KKR must focus on the next IPL auction.
KKR needs a wicktkeeper batter abroad
Kolkata Knight Riders made Phil Salt open the tickets with Sunil Narine in IPL 2024. It was one of the main reasons for its success. This season, however, it was a great contrast, since they failed to obtain a single opening association of fifty races.
Kkr tried both Kock Quinton and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, but neither could give good returns. Their feelings with Gurbaz in particular must be studied, since they could have improved the Wicketkeepers abroad. Josh Inglis and Ryan Rickelton did not cost much, and did a solid job for the kings of Punjab and the Indians of Mumbai, respectively.
KKR will have a large group of archers abroad at the next auction, including Tim Seifert, Tom Banton, Shai Hope and Jonny Bairstow.

Rhythm department abroad
The Knight Riders had broken the bank to acquire Mitchell Starc before the 2024 season, and he delivered the knockouts. They could not recover it at the IPL 2025 auction, and they had to settle for Anrich Nortje and Spencer Johnson. Neither of these two fast bowling players could appear in the franchise.
Ideally, they should keep Johnson, but they are likely to free the couple along with Moeen Ali and Rovman Powell. KKR can pursue other options abroad on the market. The tastes of Riley Meredith, Lance Morris, Richard Gleeson, Alzarri Joseph and Mustafizur Rahman will be in the group of players.
National batters
KKR’s decision to opt for Ajinkya Rahane, and Manish Pandey made no sense on this day and age. Surprisingly, Rahane had a good season and ended up as his best batter. Inr bombing 23.75 million rupees was also an inexplicable decision. They would be better releasing and buying at a cheaper price.
In the next IPL auction, the team management must look for young national batters. Their explorers must do a better job by identifying explosive batters.
Indian pacemakers
Not only the pacemaker abroad, but also the riders of Kolkata Knight with their resources as Indian rapid bowling. The star of last season, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora, collected more than 15 wickts this season, but granted more than 10 RPO.
Umran Malik was discarded with an injury while his replacement, Cetan Sakariya, played a game. KKR definitely needs to attack the Quality Indian pacemakers in the IPL 2026 auction. There should be many names in the market, including T Natarajan and Kartik Tyagi. Knights should use their exploration system well.
