The CSK performance in the IPL 2025 season will depend on how these key players deliver.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could not reach the playoffs last season for the third time. We take a look at four key players in IPL 2025 who could help them return to the top.
Chennai Super Kings is the most successful franchise in Indian Premier League with five titles and the largest number of appearances in playoffs. They had an average season last year, won seven of 14 games and lost the first four due to the lower net execution rate.
The yellow men, like nine other franchises, went through a shake ahead of the IPL 2025. CSK retained Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana together with MS Dhoni under the ‘non -desicted’ quota.
Under the cunning guide of Stephen Fleming, CSK has been one of the smartest when it comes to the construction of the team. They also did a solid job at the IPL 2025 auction, adding Noor Ahmad, R Ashwin, Rahul Tripathi, Nathan Ellis, Sam Curran and Jamie Overton to the list. They also brought Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra and Mikesh Chaudhary from the previous season.
From his IPL 2025 team, here there are four key players who could decide the fate of CSK in the next season.
Travel Giikwad
CSK Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has been one of the most consistent batters of the IPL and will be key in the higher order. The batter on the right has accumulated more than 580 races in three of the last four IPL editions. It has 2176 races in the last four seasons at an average of 41 and an attack rate of 138.
The average order of CSK for the next season looks a bit unstable with Rahul tripathi, Deepak Hooda and Vijay Shankar in the mixture. That makes the role of the superior order even more crucial.
Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube has been a vital gear in the wheel for Chennai Super Kings in the last three years. The left mass delivered yields consistent with some clarity of roles and now has also become a reliable option for India.
Dube has scored 1103 races in the last three editions of IPL to an average of 34 while putting energetic at an impressive rate of 159. In this period, Dube has been brutal in the spinning spins and anything full of Pacers. On Friday, he broke 53 of 34 against England. The Dube form and the greatest reliability make it a key player for CSK in IPL 2025.

Noor Ahmad
The Afghanistan turn assistant was acquired by the Super Kings for INR 10 million rupees after a fierce tender war. Noor Ahmad is at the top of its powers and has the ability to bother batters on any type of surface.
Now in CSK, the left arm doll spinner will play seven games at Chepauk, a paradise for the spinners. The combination of Noor Ahmad and Chepauk could be a nightmare for batters. Noor had an excellent campaign in the SA20, where he chose 10 WICKETS of eight entries in an economy of 7.
Matheesha Pathirana
Another member of the CSK bowling attack that could define its IPL 2025 season is Matheesha Pathirana. Sri Lanka’s fast bowling player has been an integral part for CSK in recent years.
Pathirana chose 19 WICKETS in his winning campaign in 2023 in an economy of 8. Last year, he played only six games due to injury problems and the alley of CSK’s death was presented. In those six games, he claimed 13 chasing leather to 7.68 RPO.
Pathirana’s ability to nail the Yorkers, touch the precise gorillas and change the rhythm intelligently makes it very difficult to counteract. However, its current form could be a concern. In the current SA20, he has taken only three six -out WICKETS and has traveled to 10.47 RPO. IPL 2025 could be a long CSK tournament if Pathirana does not recover its form.
