However, Ambati Rayudu has now broken his silence and has spoken in defense of the former patron of India.
Speaking on a YouTube channel, Raw talks to VK, said Rayudu:
“Virat Kohli was one that really supported me a lot, he liked it, when I was in the Captaincy, I played many games for India, it also brought me to the team, he understands the fight, it also comes from a humble background.”

For not versed, Ambati Rayudu experienced a series of disappointments during the 2019 World Cup when it was repeatedly overlooked for their selection, even after injuries, key players like Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar. Frustrated by the situation, Rayudu expressed his feelings on social networks, highlighting the tensions he faced during that period.
He later revealed that his relationship with MSK Prasad, the main selector at that time, was tense. Prasad, however, explained that the selection committee had made decisions collectively, with contributions from the team captain as well.
After his exclusion from the World Cup team, Rayudu announced his retirement from the International Cricket in July 2019. He continued playing in national leagues, but finally decided to get away from all forms of Indian Cricket. His final retirement arrived in May 2023, after the conclusion of the final of the IPL 2023.
