Bangladesh players unsure for IPL 2024: reports

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as reported by Cricbuzz, is not sure about sending its players to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) due to domestic commitments.

Three Bangladesh players – Mustafizur Rehman, Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed – have registered for the auction. Meanwhile, veteran Shakib Al Hasan has opted to withdraw from this year’s auction.

Mustafizur has a base price of INR 2 crore, while Taskin and Shoriful were between INR 75 Lakh and INR 50 Lakh respectively. However, the BCB is not willing to make them available for the entire season to avoid a conflict of interest with the national team. The board is also keen to ensure its players remain fresh for next year’s T20 World Cup.

IPL 2024 is scheduled to begin on March 24, while Bangladesh will host Sri Lanka. The Lankans are expected to arrive in Bangladesh in the first week of March instead of the last week of February to accommodate the BPL 2024 season. The BAN vs SL series will be for two test matches followed by three ODIs and T20Is respectively . Bangladesh is scheduled to host Zimbabwe for two Tests along with five T20Is in April and May.

BCB is not willing to send its players to play in IPL 2024

“If the IPL comes into conflict with our national team, in that case their (cricketers chosen in the IPL player auction) chances are very slim of playing the full tournament,” the president told Cricbuzz on Friday. of BCB cricket operations, Jalal Yunus.

“Also, there is a T20 World Cup in June and we want to be careful in managing them because we have to think about managing their injuries and that is why we want to take measures taking everything into consideration,” he added.

Mustafizur has previously played in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed lost his chance to play in IPL 2022 after BCB did not allow him to play in the league as LSG wanted him to sign up as a replacement for Mark Woods after the England pacer was ruled out due to injury.
