Shami admitted 48 races of his four overs against his former Gujarat Titans team
India’s former starter Aakash Chopra felt that Mohammed Shami’s version currently played for Sunrisers Hyderabad is far from what India would want to have in his test team for the next England series.
Shami was bought for INR 10 million rupees at the Premier League (IPL) auction of India and is Srh’s second most expensive purchase behind Isehan Kishan.
The unfortunate form of Mohammed Shami for SRH in IPL 2025
Just out of a victorious Champions Trophy 2025 campaign where he claimed nine five -game Wickts, Shami has failed in the IPL. The 34 -year -old has six wickts in his name after nine games while filtering 11 races for more.
On Friday against his former Gujarat Titans team, Shami admitted 48 races of his four overs that included being loaded by five limits by the opener Sai Sudharsan in the power game.
Chopra pointed out the sharp fall in Shami’s precision in the tournament, which has been a big problem for SRH while they are on the verge of elimination of the playoff career.
“This tournament is such that it does not matter who it is. If the products are not delivering, they will take it to the cleaners. And at this time, what I see with Shami is that Pace Down is a bit, the second is not enough balls in the same area,” Chopra told Espncricinfo’s Time Out.
Shami was marginalized for almost 10 months due to an ankle injury he suffered during the 2023 ODI World Cup that also saw it at IPL 2024 and the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Antilles.

Chopra felt that Shami had recovered after surgery, played domestic and T20is and Odi crying for India before IPL 2025, so the Indian team should be worried.
“That is a great question there, no, because it is not as if he had returned from an injury last week or last month. He began playing National Crick last year and this is already possible. He has played an ICC event in the middle. He has played many games. If he is still out of the boil, and that has something to do with the injury, and we are all assuming that it is a serious question with the record of what happens to the record of what happens.
Headache for India before the England test series
India has Bumrah and Shami in shape and available for the first time from the ODI 2023 World Cup, but the bad form of the latter could see that the selectors go with other rhythm bowling players.
“Of course, the SRH form is a story. The other is the tour of England. We were all insisting on the fact that [at the] Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah was alone, there was no Shami, and if there were Shami how things would have been different. But there will be Shami [in England] It is the question. And what kind of shami? Chopra said.
