The Indian pattern Shubman Gill became the third Indian and fifth batter in general to crush a double century in Odi and Test Cricket. Gill also broke the 34 -year record of Azharuddin by Mohammed Azharuddin for the highest individual test score of an Indian captain in England. He exceeded the 179 of Azhar in Old Trafford in 1990, since he had already crossed the 200 mark and remains undefeated at the time of writing the article.
This is only the second double one hundred by an Indian captain in a test abroad, after the 200 of Virat Kohli in North Sound in 2016.
