End of an era when Nathan Lyon passes to Baton to the test team of his teammate in Australia

The second test of the Western Indies vs Australia will begin on July 3.

Veteran Spinner Nathan Lyon has renounced his role as the master of songs of the Australian Cricket team after 12 years. It has passed to the cane to the Wicktkeeper-Bater Alex Carey, during the celebrations, after his massive victory over the hosts of the Western Indies in the opening test of the three-game series.

Alex Carey replaces Nathan Lyon as a new song master

The Spinner revealed that he went to Carey’s room after the work of the second day in Barbados and presented a handwritten letter to announce it as the leader of the team’s song. However, Lyon made it clear that he has his eyes on the Home Ashes series in November 2025 and has not thought of hanging his boots in recent times.

“I have been very honored to lead the song, but to have it for 12 years, it has been one of the best moments of my career. I executed my career with her, and it is time for someone else to say it. It definitely does not mean that I retire soon,” he said. (through Midnight Friday aest)

The team’s song has been an honor for the Australians for almost fifty years since another gloveman, Rod Marsh, the tradition began. Lyon also revealed that he initially planned to deliver the prestigious duty after winning the 2025 final of the World Testing Championship (WTC) at the Lord Stadium.

However, Carrey became the ninth player to assume the role in the Australian team on Friday, after a list of legendary players, including Marsh, Allan Border, David Boon, Ian Healy, Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer, Michael Hussey and the last master of Lyon songs.

Western Indies vs Australia First Test

The Western Indian team began a new trip under the pattern Roston Chase after the resignation of his former Captain Kraigg Bathwaite. The Windies Pacers, Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales, destroyed the Australian batting alignment in the first tickets. They packed a tour of four wickt and a Fifer, respectively, to expel the runners of the WTC 2025 for only 180 races.

But a commendable team effort of the Australian Bowling Unit saw the Caribs win only a mere advantage of 10 races. In the second entry, the crucial contributions of the medium order batters, including Travis Head (61), Beau Webster (63) and Carey (65), helped the team publish 310 on the scoreboard. Finally, a Five Wickt Tour of the pacemaker Josh Hazlewood promoted Australia to deliver a great defeat of 159 races against Chase and company

However, Australia would seek to seal the series in the second test in Granada, while Western Indies would be ready for a fight. The exciting shock of the red ball will begin on July 3, at the National Cricket Stadium, Granada.
