England’s Cricket team faced an early way out of the ongoing Trophy 2025 champions after losing all its three games in the group stage. In particular, this is the second time in three ICC tournaments that the three lions have faced an early way out, being the ODI 2023 World Cup the other.
After his chambolic exhibition, former captain of England Alastair Cook was reduced in the dull training approach under the Brendon McCullum regime.
Cook comments reflect previous criticism made by Kevin Pietersen, who had also highlighted inappropriate preparation both before and throughout the tournament.
Speaking about the podcast ‘Load of Bs on Sport’, Cook contrasted England’s last approach to the tournament preparations during his career as a player with the current strategies under coach Brendon McCullum. He argued that the team failed to build the level of intensity required before the competition, which finally contributed to its disappointing performance, including not obtaining a single victory.
