
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus has been selected as the ICC Associate Men’s Cricketer of the Year for 2024. Gerhard Erasmus earned the honor due to his consistent and outstanding performances in ODIs. and T20IS throughout the year.
Erasmus displayed remarkable batting form which played a pivotal role in Namibia claiming crucial wins in both white-ball formats. In addition to his batting contributions, Erasmus proved to be effective with his deployment. He also delivered commendable performances in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The International Cricket Council announced Gerhard Erasmus as the winner of the Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year for 2024 on Sunday 26 January. The ICC wrote: “Consistency personified 🌟 For the second time, Namibia’s talismanic captain Gerhard Erasmus is named Associate Cricketer of the Year.”

Gerhard Erasmus started the year with a man-of-the-match performance against Nepal in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, taking 5/28 and scoring a crucial half-century in a low-scoring chase. He scored a quickfire 52 off 31 balls and took 2/29 in a narrow loss against Scotland in the T20 World Cup.
He was instrumental in a thrilling super top victory against Oman, which was Namibia’s only victory in the tournament. Erasmus showed resilience against a formidable Australian team, scoring 36 runs in the match. His ability to deliver in high-pressure situations made him a deserving recipient of the award.
Gerhard Erasmus’ overall stellar record in 2024
The 29-year-old concluded 2024 with exceptional performances in all achievements in both ODIs and T20IS. Erasmus scored 364 runs at an average of 33.09 and took 18 wickets at 22.38 in 12 ODI matches.
In T20IS, he amassed 363 runs at an average of 33.00 and secured 18 wickets at an impressive average of 13.61 in 13 matches. Overall, the all-rounder scored 727 runs and took 36 wickets in 25 matches.

Esha Oza began the year by leading the UAE to victory in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Premier Cup, where she was the tournament’s top scorer and named player of the tournament.
OZA played a crucial knock of 66 off 39 balls against the Netherlands, helping the team to the knockout stages of the 2024 T20 World Cup qualifier. She continued her strong form with another 66-run performance against Sri Lanka in the semi-final.
