Matt Henry

It has been a key gear on the Kiwi side in the ICC tournament.

The New Zealand pacemaker, Matt Henry, who had received a shoulder injury during the semifinals clash against South Africa, was disappeared from the list of Kiwi players when they arrived at the Dubai National Cricket Stadium for their training session.

It will be a great blow to the BlackCaps before the Champions Trophy 2025 final, since Henry has looked lethal and is currently the Wickt leader in the tournament.

New Zealand would have expected Henry to get fit, but given the current situation, it seems extremely uncomfortable with respect to its availability for the marques clash.

Giving an update on the matter, Captain Mitchell Santner said at the press conference prior to the party,

“We are going to cross the road to have a network, he will have a bowl to see how it goes and then evaluate.”

Matt Henry has been extremely clinical for New Zealand in Champions Trophy 2025

Matt Henry has been extremely clinical for Kiwis at the Champions Trophy 2025, having taken 10 Wickts in just four games. His most notable performance occurred during the group stage against India, where he achieved a tour of five Wickt (5/42), eliminating star batters like Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. However, despite Henry’s brilliance, New Zealand lost the game for 44 races, since India Spinner Varun Chakravarthy (5/42) played a crucial role in the limitation of the Kiwis to a total of 205.

In particular, this final is only the second time that New Zealand and India have faced each other in a Champions Trophy final. His first meeting took place in 2000 during the ICC Knockout Cup, where the winning century of Chris Cairns’s game (102*) took New Zealand to an exciting victory of four Wickt in Nairobi, ensuring its first ICC trophy.
