Great honor! Wankhede’s names stand up after Mumbai Indians are in the middle of IPL 2025

The decision was made in the AGM of MCA.

In a gesture of honor, the Association of Cricket Maharashtra (MCA) has changed the name of a stand in the Wankhede after the former captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) Rohit Sharma. The decision was confirmed today (April 15) during the Annual General Meeting of MCA (AGM). Stands will also be dedicated to the former captain of India, Ajit Wadekar, and the former president of MCA, Sharad Pawar.

A MCA statement said: “Another key resolution approved during the AGM was the approval of the appointment of the stands at the Wankhede stadium, a proposal initially presented by Mr. Milind Narvekar and seconded by Mr. Jitendra Awhad.”

It is understood that level 3 of the Divecha 3 pavilion will now be known as the Rohit Sharma stand.

In addition, level 3 of the Great Stand will now be officially designated as the Sharad Pawar stand, while level 4 will be named after the legendary Ajit Wadekar.

In a moving gesture, the MCA also revealed that the Office of the Day of the Party located in the MCA pavilion will be renamed MCA Office Lounge, paying tribute to Amol Kale, the late president of the association who died during his mandate.

This is in a marked contrast with his performances last season, where the veteran of my hit 417 in 14 games, including a century and a SR of 150.

Mi, on the other hand, is also fighting, are currently placed seventh with only two six games victories. Therefore, the five times champions will need Rohit to find their rhythm and fire at the top of the batting order in an attempt to turn the fortune in the rest of the tournament.
