He explained that he was in Swindon, who is his wife’s hometown and near Birmingham.

India’s practice session before the second test against England in Edgbaston had a surprise visitor: the arm of the left arm Harpreet Brrar of Punjab Kings. Brrar, who did it well during India Premier League 2025 when Punjab Kings reached the final, was seen bowling for Indian batters in Birmingham. Although it is not part of the official test team, he was invited to play on the networks after a personal application of the Captain of India Shubman Gill.

Harpreet Brar explains how Shubman Gill called him to join the practice

On June 28, Brar was seen in training. As he did not have an official team team, it was clear that it was not part of the team. This led to the talk that India could be thinking about the changes in the Spinning department, especially after its hard loss in the first game in Headingley.

Later, the Cricket Control Board in India shared a BRAR video of the session. He explained that he was in Swindon, who is his wife’s hometown and near Birmingham. He said Shubman Gill had sent him a message the day before, so he decided to travel and join the team to practice.

“My wife is from Swindon. It’s very close to Birmingham, it’s a 1-1.5 hours trip. I was talking to Shubman (Gill), he sent me a text message yesterday. So I thought we are going and we practice there (Birmingham),” Brar said in the BCCI video.

Indian bowling under scrutiny after the defeat of the Leeds test

The performance of the bowling of India has been questioned after the loss in Leeds. Jasprit Bumrah took five wickts in the first tickets, but could not have a great impact on the second tickets. England pursued a great goal of 371 races without many problems. The rest of the rapid bowling players were not consistent, and Ravindra Jadeja, the only spinner, only took a wickt in both tickets.

Because of this, there are talks in which India could make changes to the second test. Kuldeep Yadav could be brought to get more spinning support, or ArshdeEP Singh could be chosen as a fast bowling player. Another concern is whether Bumrah will play. Due to injuries and workload management, it is expected to rest for one or two games in the five -game series, and Edgbaston test could be lost.
