'I am definitely ready': the recent form of the discarded trial batters for the selection in the Tests of England

The batter has accumulated 7,195 races in 103 tests for India.

The veteran batter of India Cheteshwar Pujara expressed interest in being back in the field for the England test tour. In an interview with Revsportz, the 37 -year -old man said he is anxious to return and will be ready to play if the team needs it.

“As a Cricket player, you always want to play for the Indian team and I am doing everything possible to achieve that success. If the team needs me, I’m definitely ready. I have been playing domestic cryket. I’ve been playing Cricket from County in recent years. I have been scoring a lot in the domestic circuit. So, if you are given a chance, yes, I will be more than ready to grab it with both hands, ”said Pujara.

The Indian test team has had some poor actions in recent times, in contrast to the white ball format. Although the team assured the consecutive ICC titles in the T20IS and ODI, they suffered great losses against New Zealand and Australia.

India lost the Border-Gavaskar series (BGT) 3-1 even after leading it 1-0 after the first test. This loss destroyed the possibilities of qualification of India for the final of the World Testing Championship (WTC) in June 2025. This is the first time that India will not play in the WTC final after they did it twice, in 2021 and 2023. Previously, India also suffered its first laundering in a series of tests at home of three games in November 2024 to New Zealand by 3-0.

After having played for India in the final of the World Testing Championship of 2023 (WTC) against Australia, Cheteshwar Pujara believes that his presence in the team could have made the difference in the last BGT series. He could have helped the team win their third consecutive BGT after 2018-19 and 2021-22.

“I had a lot of confidence. If I was there, then we wanted to make a hat of hats. So I wouldn’t deny that, ”he emphasized.

In addition, while talking about India’s possibilities to overcome England at home, he emphasized how the absence of great rhythm such as Anderson and Broad can facilitate the team led by Rohit Sharma.

“This Indian team definitely has a very good opportunity. Even if we look at the alignment of bowling of England, they are a little weaker after Anderson retired, and Stuart Broad is no longer there in the XI game, ”said Pujara.

The five -game test series between India and England will begin from June 20 in Headingley.
