Priyansh Arya has been one of the prominent young players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS), the young opener scored 103 incredible races of only 42 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which many are calling the best performance of the tournament so far.

During a round media table on Thursday, Priyansh Arya said he felt lucky to share the field with Mrs. Dhoni. He said it is a rare opportunity that there are not many players, and that I was happy to be part of that. He also talked about the pressure of having Dhoni behind the stumps and facing the best bowling players like Ravichandran Ashwin. Priyansh added that he really wanted to talk to Dhoni after the game, but he couldn’t do it because he was caught with interviews and that Dhoni had already left by then.

“I am very lucky to have been able to play with him. Obviously, very few people have an opportunity like this. So I feel very lucky to have been able to play with him. Obviously there was pressure that was standing, and the bowling players were also legends. Like Ashwin, sir. [Dhoni] But I couldn’t because I was busy with my interview and he left. So I couldn’t talk to him, but he really wanted to talk to him, ”said Priyansh Arya.

Priyansh said he maintained a positive mentality even after leaving in the first ball in a previous match. He did not let that affect him and focused on playing with confidence. He mentioned that if the ball were there to hit, he would go. He also talked about his conversation with Ricky Ponting, saying that Ricky always remains positive and told him not to worry because anyone can leave early. Priyansh added that he often tells him about his shots, especially the extraction shot, and Ricky continues to guide him on how to improve it.

“My mentality was positive because I didn’t think about anything like that when I went out to the first ball. I thought I would play as much as possible with a positive attitude. If I get the ball, I will hit him. Speaking of Ricky, Lord, he is always positive. Then, I also talked to him, and he told me there were no problems. It was the first ball, so anyone can get it. He can do this better than that,” he added.
