Twitter reacts as Sanju Samson and not Yashasvi Jaiswal opens the innings for India

Team India is currently playing against Bangladesh in their only warm-up match for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The match will take place in New York.

India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. The Men in Blue will be without Virat Kohli for the match. Rohit confirmed the news at the toss and also revealed that Kohli will miss the game as he joined the team just a day before. Well, Kohli not playing is not the only surprise for the Indian team. The team management gave a big surprise by sending Sanju Samson to open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma. While Yashasvi Jaiswal was expected to open the innings, the Indian team management decided otherwise.

The decision will surely surprise many as Samson did not open the innings even once in the IPL. On the other hand, Jaiswal opened the innings throughout the competition and also scored a century, although he struggled to perform consistently. It will be interesting to see who opens the innings with Rohit in the main event. But for now, the call has taken many by surprise.

Talking about Samson, the right-handed batsman had a good outing in IPL 2024. He led the Rajasthan Royals from the front and finished the season as their second-highest run-scorer. In 16 games, he scored 531 runs with the help of five fifties. The Kerala star is participating in the World Cup for the first time in his career and hopes it will be a memorable one.
