According to Sydney Morning Herald, some international Crickt players who play in the Super League of Pakistan (PSL) managed to leave Pakistan only a few hours before a missile attack reported hitting a nearby military base. Most of them, including several Australian players, flew to Dubai on a special flight organized for their safety.

The PSL and IPL were postponed due to the increase in tensions between India and Pakistan. The players of both leagues began to make arrangements to return home. The Australian stars such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head have organized return flights to Australia after aerial attenuation alerts were issued in the northern parts of India, including Dharamshala.

The missile strike arrives at the air base hours after the players

The Australian players involved in the PSL, such as Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Ashton Turner and Mitch Owen, left Islamabad on Friday night on a charter flight organized by the Cricket board of Pakistan. From Dubai, connection flights were being organized to help players reach their countries of origin.

The serious part of the situation was that only a few hours after the players left, according to the reports, the Nur Khan air base, from where they had flown, was one of the sites attacked in missile attacks by the Indian forces. The base is located near the military headquarters of Pakistan, about ten kilometers from Islamabad. Local reports mentioned multiple explosions and fires, with smoke and panic that extend by nearby areas.

Although David Warner had already returned to Australia before, the rest of the players were shocked. Peter Lovitt, the manager of Abbott and Dwarshuis, said both players were safe in Dubai and rested before flying back to Sydney.

“Sean and Ben feel relieved to be in Dubai now,” said Peter Lovitt, who manages Abbott and Dwarshuis, to this masthead. “They rest in a hotel while preparing to fly back to Sydney.
