Indian national cricket team batsman Shubman Gill has performed a selfless act for his franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. As per RevSportz reports, it is known that The young man has asked the team management to keep him as a second retention.

Reports claimed that Shubman Gill told Gujarat Titans to keep Rashid Khan as their first retainer. This is because the batsman wants to build a strong team for the next edition of the league and therefore sacrificed being the main retainer, which could have given him more money.

That Gill does not agree to be the first retained is a big surprise, especially since he is the biggest name in Indian cricket. The right-hander is currently the vice-captain of the Indian white-ball cricket team and is also touted as the future of the Indian national cricket team.

Reports also claimed that Shubman Gill will remain the captain of the Gujarat Titans in the upcoming edition of the league. The young batsman joined the team in 2022 as one of the draft picks and has since become the team’s mainstay in the Indian Premier League.

Shubman Gill was given the captaincy of the Gujarat Titans last year. This came after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians. The all-rounder captained the team for two seasons and guided them to win the title in 2022 before taking them to the final in 2023.

Rashid Khan also joined the Gujarat Titans in 2022 as one of the draft picks. Since then, he has been the backbone of the team in the bowling department. The player has been a consistent performer for the team and has taken 56 wickets from them in 45 matches with the best figures of 4/24.
