Will MS Dhoni bat against Delhi Capitals? Batting coach Michael Hussey reveals the mystery

MS Dhoni not coming out to bat in Chennai Super Kings’ first two games left fans disappointed. Even though the situation was perfect for him to come in and hit some shots, the former CSK captain did not come out to bat.

He had some eye-catching moments on the field, especially the catch of Vijay Shankar in the last match. Despite handing over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni remained heavily involved in decision-making.

MS Dhoni’s moment of genius against GT

Despite CSK’s victories in the first two matches, MS Dhoni’s decision not to bat has been a matter of debate. Several CSK and Indian cricket experts have questioned the reason why Dhoni did not come out to bat. However, batting coach Michael Hussey has given hints that the former CSK captain is likely to bat against Delhi Capitals. He predicted that Dhoni would finish the match with a six.

“My prediction for the last over of the match is that MS Dhoni will bat. The crowd will be roaring and MSD will score a six to end the match,” Michael Hussey said in the video posted by the official social media page of IPL.

CSK beat GT by 63 runs on Tuesday and have two wins in as many games. Next Sunday they will play against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam. Meanwhile, DC is yet to open its account after losing its first two games. Delhi will be led by Rishabh Pant, while CSK will have a new captain in Ruturaj Gaikwad.

MS Dhoni decided to step down as CSK skipper a day before the start of IPL 2023. Ruturaj Gaikwad was announced as the new skipper and he has done a good job so far with two consecutive wins. Meanwhile, Hussey stated that the DC vs CSK match could be a close contest.

Delhi Capitals are going to be desperate: Michae; hussey

“They will be desperate. They are going to try to have a great game. We all started from scratch and tried to put in another good performance against Delhi. Yes, but I think if we can focus really well on our game and try to execute our skills as best we can, then hopefully it gives us a good chance to get the result we’re looking for,” Hussey said.

After being named captain of Chennai Super Kings, Ruturaj Gaikwad said he expected to be named captain early this year. He further said that MS Dhoni’s viral post on social media about his “new role” also indicated that his captaincy was just around the corner.

“I remember posting about a new role on social media and everyone was pointing at me and asking if ‘are you the next captain?’ I thought, “maybe it meant something more to social media.” In the back of your mind, it was there. I would say just a week (before) we came and he was like, ‘I’ve decided this and this,’ but definitely now that I’m here, I’m really looking forward to this.”

So far in the first two matches, Gaikwad’s captaincy has been highly praised. He now has the task of making CSK the first team to win three games in a row.
