India and Bangladesh will face each other in the second match of the two-match Test series. The final match of the series will be played at Green Park in Kanpur from Friday (September 29). The hosts have a 1-0 lead in the series, having won the first match by 280 runs.
The focus now turns to the second match, which is due to be played in a few days. However, there has been huge security concerns ahead of the match, which has made many nervous. A 20-member team from Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha staged a havan blocking the road leading to the stadium to protest against the atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh.
However, police officials are already at work as they have lodged a complaint against the 20 members of Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha. The officials also confirmed that they have drawn up a “foolproof” security plan for India and Bangladesh, who will arrive in Kanpur on Tuesday evening.
Kanpur Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander said that they have reviewed the security arrangements and will deploy more police forces to control the situation. Speaking to PTI, he said:
“We are reviewing security measures to leave no stone unturned and we are confident of securing an adequate police force to meet the needs.”
He also mentioned that they are in talks with central and state agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and State Intelligence, to share information about threats, if any, to tackle them skillfully. Apart from this, the police officials have come up with another massive plan to keep the players safe.
The Kanpur stadium, along with the hotel where the teams will play, has been divided into sectors, zones and sub-zones, and their authority has been given to officers of the rank of DCP, Additional DCP and ACP respectively.
DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh, who has been appointed as the nodal officer for the entire event, confirmed the conduct of the event. Apart from this, traffic diversions have also been imposed ahead of the match.
