Rohit Sharma’s decline in Test cricket has been beyond expectations and if you watch him bat, it no longer looks like he will return to his best. He hit a purple patch just after being appointed to open and soon became one of the best Test openers in world cricket.

He overcame various conditions and was crucial in India’s immense success abroad. One of the main reasons behind his flourishing at the top was his confidence in defense, which now seemed to be lacking.

On ESPNcricinfo, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar pointed out that Rohit’s defense had been breached on several occasions. Recalling the 2021 England series, Manjrekar exclaimed that he is now unable to get his defense back on its game.

“The first obvious answer is lack of confidence (and) doubt (about why he didn’t get over his slump) and a bit of surprise when he played in that home series against New Zealand, and his defense was being breached. in those Indian fields.
