England’s pacemakers, Chris Woakes, ended on the wrong side of the referee’s decision twice during day 1 of the current ENG vs Ind 2nd test. Subsequently, the English sprinter was denied two Yashavi Jaiswal and Karun Nair. He also saw Woakes lose his calm in the middle and vent his anger with the referees in the field.
The first incident occurred when Woakes had the jaiswal in a way trapped in the front. The appeal seemed convincing, but the referee did not give it. The captain of England, Ben Stokes, opted for a review, and the monitoring of the ball indicated that the ball was cutting the stumps. However, due to the ‘call of the referee’, the original decision remained and Jaiswal was saved.
Next, Karun Nair also benefited from a similar fortune in which he did not play any shot to a delivery of Chris Woakes that became good and looked very close. The appeal of LBW of England was again rejected, and after the review, he showed that the impact was outside and that the call of the referee was confirmed.
When asked about decisions, Chris Woakes said at the end of the interaction of the media,
“Well, yes, it is really frustrating. These are decisions that can go in your own way, but this is the game we play and move on.”
