KL Rahul’s spin woes force Gautam Gambhir to become his personal batting coach

Indian national cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir was actively involved with the players ahead of the second Test against Bangladesh national cricket team. According to reports by Indian Express, it is learnt that the coach was particularly focused on KL Rahul.

Reports claimed that Gautam Gambhir had an eye on KL Rahul as the batsman was batting against the bowlers in the nets ahead of the India vs Bangladesh second Test. The head coach reportedly rushed out to check on the batsman when he started taking on the bowlers in the training sessions.

Watching KL Rahul, Gautam Gambhir asked the batsman to use his feet against the bowlers. As a result of that, the wicketkeeper-batsman came down the track and played some accurate shots on the ground. However, after that, the batsman was asked to shift the focus to front-line defence and try to use his wrists to get singles.

Rahul reportedly faced difficulties in that regard as there were batting and protection opportunities that could have easily gone to the short-leg fielder. However, after working tirelessly on the same, the right-hander mastered the art of doing so and played that shot to perfection.

Rahul was quick to realise what was going on and Gautam Gambhir applauded him. The coach patted the batsman on the back as he left the nets. The right-hander will be hoping to make an impact in the second Test, which will be played at the Green Park in Kanpur from September 27.

KL Rahul played as a middle-order batsman for India in the first Test against Bangladesh.

KL Rahul played as a middle-order batsman for India in the first Test against the Bangladesh national cricket team. However, he was stuck at the crease as he could not bat freely, scoring 16 runs off 52 balls in the first innings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

But Rahul was left a bit free in the second innings. It was when India had taken a massive lead and he came out with positive intentions and scored beautiful boundaries. He made an unbeaten 22 runs off 19 balls with 4 boundaries before India declared the end of the innings.

Rahul is arguably one of the most talented players in Indian cricket, but he has somehow managed to tap into his full potential. The batsman has had his moments in Test cricket, but after that, he has failed to be consistent as he seems to be stagnant at the crease and does not play with the fluidity that he is known for.

Rahul scored a sensational century in South Africa, where he donned the wicket-keeper’s gloves. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 101 at Centurion, where the other Indian batsmen struggled. After that, he made the same kind of impact in the England series as he made 86 and 22 against England in the first Test before being ruled out of the series.

With Gautam Gambhir working on him, KL Rahul would be keen to make an impact in the second Test. India won the first Test by a margin of 280 runs and will be hoping to complete the thrashing.
