‘Main Kuch Bolunga Toh Bawal Ho Jaya’

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain, Ajinkya Rahane, has once again expressed her frustration in the field in Eden Gardens after the narrow defeat of four races of her team against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025. The comments have revived the discussion about whether KKR is really getting the advantage of the house.

After the game, Rahane was asked about the surface of Eden Gardens and responded with a pointed comment: “Main Kuch Bolunga Toh Bawal Ho Jaya” (if I say something, it will be a great controversy). He added that the launch has already received much attention and suggested that the matter should be occupied with IPL and the relevant authorities. His tone made it clear that not everything is as soft as it seems behind the scene.

Ajinkya Rahane vs Kkr Curator disagree

The round trip wickt about the Eden Gardens Wickt began earlier this season, when Rahane and chief coach Chandrakant Pandit expressed their preference for friendly conditions with spinning at home. However, the launch, according to the reports, did not meet that lawsuit in the KKR opening party, which led to speculate that their requests were being overlooked.

The launch curator has maintained that the releases are prepared according to the league guidelines and do not adapt to the team’s preferences. The tension seems to be ongoing, with Rahane carefully choosing his words, but hints a deeper disagreement.

In the last game, Rahane seemed to be happy with the launch established by the curator: “(Pitch) looks good. I am very happy with the launch, we were even looking to play first in this release. He will adapt to our spinning spins. When you play a game at home, I always feel, you should get what you want.”

Why did Kkr lose to LSG?

While the launch is under scrutiny, KKR’s own decisions during the game against LSG have been questioned. Chasing a massive target of 239, KKR surprisingly retained its most explosive batters. Andre Russell entered the number 7, and Rinku Singh was sent to number 8, although both are known for their ability to change the games in overs.

Instead, Angkrish Raguvanshi and Ramandeep Singh were promoted by order, with the theory of the left left combination cited as a possible reason. However, when the required execution rate was already flying, the decision to send the big batters so late seemed questionable. Rinku scored an undefeated 38 of only 15 balls, but arrived too late to affect the result.

Rahane’s comment on launch can highlight a genuine concern, but it is fair to ask if KKR’s own elections during the game played an important role in his loss. The call to delay the arrival of their best finalists in persistent persecution possibly had a greater impact than the surface itself.

KKR will need to look in and align their tactics and tone preferences if you want to make better use of your home in the future.
