One of the major events scheduled for this year is the T20 World Cup 2024. All teams will be paying attention and among them is Pakistan. The Men in Green would be one of the big favorites heading into the tournament.

Since the last few years, Pakistan has been a force to reckon with in T20Is. They have played a magnificent brand of cricket over the last few years and are surely one of the best teams in this format. Their performance in the last two T20 World Cups has been exceptional and it won’t be a surprise if they end up winning this year.

Pakistan finished as semi-finalists in the 2021 T20 World Cup and then were runners-up in 2022. One of the key factors behind their success in the T20 format has been Fakhar Zaman, who has been playing exceptionally well in the format.

Fakhar Zaman has been one of the shining lights of Pakistan. The batsman has played great innings for his team and his aggressive intent has been one of the main reasons why the team put up big totals on the board.

Fakhar Zaman is fully focused on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 and really wants his team to win. He said that he would pray that his teammates were in top shape to be able to play well. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“This year we have the T20 World Cup. We have a very strong team (T20I). I pray that we do not suffer any injuries. My main goal is for the Pakistan team to win the T20 World Cup and for me to play an important role in it.”

PAK vs AUS: Team management has informed me that I will play one or two overs: Fakhar Zaman on his batting position in T20Is

In recent years, Pakistan has opened up with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. The duo has had great success and batting at the top has brought out the best in them.

This has seen Fakhar Zaman step down from his position and take on the number 3 role in the team. The batsman has adapted well to that role. But with the 2024 T20 World Cup around the corner, there has been a lot of speculation about his batting position.

However, he himself confirmed that the team leadership has told him that he will hit 3 or 4. He spoke about the competition in the team and stated:

“Having competition is very important. It’s good that we have 6 players competing for a spot. I have always opened, but as for the situation, the team management has informed me that I will play one or two attempts. As you know, Babar and Rizwan have done a lot of acting. So the message I got is one or two down, and I’m happy with that.”

Fakhar Zaman will next be seen in action when Pakistan takes on New Zealand in the five-match T20I series. The series will begin from January 12 and will mark Pakistan’s preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024.
