Apart from his batting, Ashwin’s lethal bowling in the second innings, where he picked up six wickets, reinforced his position at the top spot in the latest ICC Test Bowling Rankings. Meanwhile, Ashwin’s trusted partner Ravindra Jadeja has also made significant inroads in the latest ICC Test Rankings.
The Indian all-rounder’s consistent knock of 86 during his crucial 199-run partnership with Ashwin and his five-wicket haul in the Chennai Test helped Jadeja climb to 37th in the ICC Test batting rankings and one place to sixth in the Test bowling rankings.
Jadeja also continues to dominate the all-rounder rankings, extending his lead to a career-best 475 points, while Ashwin remains the second-highest Test all-rounder, with the off-spinner adding 48 points to reach 370 in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings.
Meanwhile, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has broken into the top five for the first time in his career, following his stunning half-century in the first innings in Chennai.
On the other hand, fast bowler Akash Deep has moved up 10 places to reach 88th position in the latest ICC Test Bowling Rankings after claiming two crucial wickets in the first Test against Bangladesh.

On a global scale, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s brave 82 in the second innings moved up 14 places to 48th in the latest ICC Test batting rankings. Hasan Mahmud’s five-wicket haul in the first innings of the match also helped him move up five places to 44th among bowlers.
Shakib Al Hassan moved up one place to 43rd in the batting rankings, while Taskin Ahmed made significant progress, climbing eight places to 66th among bowlers.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya has reached a career-high eighth in the rankings following his nine-match streak. His performance was instrumental in Sri Lanka’s victory over New Zealand.
