The captain of Gujarat Titans (GT), Shubman Gill, was absent from the field during the aggressive persecution of Rajasthan Royals (RR) in his IPL 2025 clash at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur on Monday. Shubman Gill was injured? Why was he in the bank with Ishant Sharma entering as an impact player for him?
Gill, who previously played the blow of a captain with a good 84 of 50 balls, was replaced before the second tickets with the impact player Ishant Sharma. His absence raised his eyebrows, especially when Rajasthan Royals ran in the power game, driven by the historic century of the adolescent Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Why did Shubman Gill leave the field?
Clarifying the situation after the entrances, Shubman Gill confirmed that he suffered a rear spasm during Gujarat Titans. The GT team management decided not to risk presenting it, considering the brief change before its next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 2 in Ahmedabad.
Shubman Gill said in the presentation after the game: “I had a spasm on my back and management felt that I shouldn’t risk filming just a few days before the next game.”
In the absence of Gill, Star Spinner Rashid Khan assumed the position of Captain of Gujarat Titans for the second half of the game. GT also activated an exchange of impact players, bringing Ishant Sharma to add another rhythm option along with Mohammed Siraj and Prash Krishna.

Despite the reverse for injuries, Gill played a brilliant entry, anchoring Gujarat Titans to a formidable 209/4 in 20 overs. His tickets included five four and four six, with key associations of 93 races with Sai Sudharsan and 74 races with Jos Buttler.
However, Gill’s absence in the countryside proved to be expensive since Rajasthan Royals, led by a sensational Vaibhav Sureyavanshi, 14, began. Suryavanshi broke the fiftieth fastest of IPL 2025 and finally became the youngest centurion in the history of IPL.
