Shubman Gill, just out of the Ranji trophy, reflects on where his test career has decreased

The first level batter of India, Shubman Gill, admitted that his red ball batting is a concern after his bad streak in the trial cricket lately.

Gill has averaged less than 45 in the last three seasons in tests and his last output at the Border Gavaskar trophy in Australia produced only 93 races in five innings with a higher score of 31.

The 25-year-old returned to the National Cricket with Punjab in his group of the Ranji 2024-25 trophy against Karnataka. The Punjab captain was fired for only 4 in the first entry, since all were eliminated by 55, but bravely noted 102 in the second entry into a lost cause.

Gill returned as the eighth land when Punjab was fired by 213 to lose the game for an entrance and 207 races.

“The batting with a red ball is a concern. Sometimes, I think that with the red ball, in the games I play, I make very good races of 25 to 30, ”Gill said after the match cited by Hindustan Times.

Gill felt that he needed to reduce the pressure on himself to score great races, since it is not part of his natural game.

“I think in those moments, sometimes I press too much to be able to score great races. I think that is not the way I grew up playing my game, ”he said.

In the Border Gavaskar trophy, the pattern repeated several times since it had good exits, but never materialized in fifty when he tried great shot and died.

“There is a certain area in which I am, some intention in which I am and sometimes I lose it because I pressed too much and I have to do a great career now that I am ready. I think in those in crucial moments, sometimes I lose the concentration.

Hoping to make it better in the Ranji trophy

Speaking of his century in the second entrance, Gill felt that it was a satisfactory blow despite the fact that it was not enough to get Punjab out of the losing situation.

“I think these tickets were very satisfactory to me, the way I played. The first, I believe, in 130 balls, I scored about 40 races, and they were playing the bowling well and there was also some help in the portillo. So, taking that into account, I think I was very satisfied with the way I was playing, ”said Gill.

Gill hopes to play better and inspire Punjab in the last game of the group against Bengala that will begin on January 30 at Eden Gardens in Calcutta. Punjab currently occupies the fifth place in the Elite C group with 1 victory, 3 losses and 2 draws. They are mathematically out of the quarterfinal race and only pride is left at stake.
