SRH vs RR: Watch: Kavya Maran goes wild with her celebration as Sunrisers Hyderabad seal a place in IPL 2024 final

Kavya Maran and Pat Cummins

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) put up a magnificent effort in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). The match between the two teams took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday (May 24).

Sunrisers Hyderabad were tremendous with bat and ball as they beat Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs to book their place in the final. The team led by Pat Cummins was clinical in the field and made it difficult for opponents to score runs.

When asked to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a decent outing with the bat. Although they lost Abhishek Sharma (12) in the first over, Travis Head (34) and Rahul Tripathi (37) kept the intensity high and scored runs quickly for the team.

After their partnership, Sunrisers Hyderabad came under pressure and lost wickets early. But it was Heinrich Klaasen (50), who scored a brave half-century to bring his team back into the game. His solid hand with the bat propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to a total of 175 for nine at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

With the ball, SRH was under pressure from the beginning till the time Yashasvi Jaiswal (42) was batting. But the way Captain Pat Cummins led his troops was fantastic. He made brilliant changes to the bowling and that paid off as the bowlers were all over the batsmen.

Shahbaz Ahmed contributed three wickets while Abhishek Sharma also picked two wickets as the Rajasthan Royals batsmen looked clueless. They restricted the opposition to 139/7 and won the game by 36 runs to reach the final.

When Sunrisers Hyderabad qualified for the playoffs, the team’s CEO Kavya Maran burst into joy and was seen celebrating the victory. Captain Pat Cummins on the field was also jubilant as he hugged his teammates.

Patty (Pat Cummins) used the spinners well – Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma, who played a crucial role in the win over Rajasthan Royals, credited his father for his bowling performance and also praised captain Pat Cummins for using the bowlers well. In statements to the stations, he explained:

β€œTo be honest, I didn’t know it would be this match (where I would play all 4 overs), but I was ready. I’ve been working on my bowling. I have been batting well in the last 2 years but I had to work on bowling and I did it with my dad. (The pitch) was faster when we were batting and started turning in the second innings, Patty used the spinners well.

“It was the pressure I put in every (practice) session that he (Cummins) gave me by bowling today. We won the SMAT with Punjab and the momentum came from that, I was ready and worked hard. The message was simple : They gave us the freedom to go and express ourselves. One of my dreams was to play in the IPL final and it is coming true.” He concluded.
