Temba Bavuma hit a magnificent uppercut for six off the fifth delivery of Asitha Fernando’s 42nd over. It was such a sweetly timed shot, and the timing was impeccable as the ball went over the ropes.

Asitha bowled a short delivery to Bavuma, who made some space and moved towards the leg side to play towards the offside region. However, the ball was still above his height, so he jumped with both legs in the air, helping him control the bounce of the shot.

The ball hit the right side of the willow and the timing was so good to take the ball all the way to the boundary for a fantastic maximum. It’s not an easy shot to execute, as Bavuma needed to get a lot of things right.

The rebounder always carried the ball over Bavuma, but his jump and timing of the shot were impeccable, which helped him impart enough power in the short. It was easily one of the best shots of the game, especially considering how difficult it was to bat in Durban.

Sri Lanka has just 42 behind South Africa’s 191

After being asked to bat first, South Africa could only manage 191, thanks to a tremendous 70-run knock by the captain. Apart from him, Keshav Maharaj (24) and Kagiso Rabada (15) also played good hands to propel South Africa to a fighting total in a tough deck.

Asitha Fernando and Lahiru Kumara took three wickets, while Vishwa Fernando got two wickets for Sri Lanka. Later in the second innings, Sri Lanka scored just 42, their lowest total in the history of Test cricket.

Marco Jansen wreaked havoc, taking seven wickets for just 13 runs in 6.5 overs, taking the fewest balls to take seven wickets. Gerald Coetzee took two wickets, while Kagiso Rabada dismissed one batsman.

In response, South Africa are currently 28/0 in the third innings and would look to score big. They already have a big lead, and more runs from now on will increase the pressure on Sri Lanka.
