The former batter of England, Dawid Malan, felt that relocating Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 only has limited options following the suspension due to growing tensions between India and Pakistan.
The IPL 2025 party between the kings of Punjab and the capital of Delhi in Dharamsala was abandoned halfway after bombing along the Indian border about 100 km from the HPCA stadium. The teams, the party officials, the transmission team and the coaching staff have arrived in Delhi safely after which foreign players and coaching staff together with their families have started traveling back to their respective countries.

“If it does not happen in India or Sri Lanka in a week like that, I suppose they will begin in September. They obtained a series of massive tests that face England in a few months, and the IPL has to end before that or start after that; logistically, it is a great headache for the organizers,” said Malan in a chat with Al Arabiya.
South Africa is not an option
Malan, who has played a game for Punjab Kings in 2021, ruled out a relocation to South Africa due to winter. The 2009 edition of the IPL was played in South Africa due to the general elections in India.
“It is not the first time that happens with the IPL, not in terms of gravity, which has been happening between the two countries, but Covid hit 2020/2021, and transferred the IPL to the EAU halfway,” said Malan.
“There are options that have played in South Africa before. Realistically, if they have to start in a week, they have to do it in India or the EAU. South Africa would not be an option, considering that it will be winter there,” he added.
