The president of the Premier League of India (IPL), Arun Dhumal, expressed his confidence that the suspended 2025 will resume along with the participation of the players and the coaching staff abroad.
The IPL 2025 was suspended for a week following the growing tensions between India and Pakistan after ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Thursday’s match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was abandoned halfway after the confrontation between the forces near the border.
All HPCA stadium attendees were safely evacuated and all participants, including the coaching staff, party officials, players and transmission teams have arrived safely to Delhi.
When will IPL 2025 resume?
Foreign players and the coaching staff have also begun to return home after the suspension.
In an interview with the Indian Express, Dhumal said that all parties involved will be contacted before making the decision to resume the IPL 2025.
“We will review the situation and, consequently, we will keep all interested parties informed, including our franchise owners,” Dhumal said.
What happens if foreign players do not want to return?
I was sure that foreign players and staff will return once the League resumes.
“I am sure that foreign players would like to return and be part of the tournament. As the IPL was suspended for a week, everyone wanted to return to their loved ones,” he said.

Although the announcers said that the PBKS vs DC party was abandoned due to the failure of the reflector, it became clear that the tense situation along the border near Dharamsala was the real reason behind this.
Dhumal himself was seen participating in the evacuation of the stadium when the crowd came out gently outside the stadium. The administrators also explained how the organizers were informed about security measures before the party.
Behind the scene of the PBK vs dc match in Dharamsala
“There was a little break (during the game) and we had a discussion with the district commissioner, the deputy commissioner, the higher authorities and the people above. We talked about the next step. I went and talked to the people in the management of the team of both teams and evaluated them on the situation. Then I went to the land and requested all the fans so that they are coming. The local administration was receiving reports on the incidents.
On the other side of the border, the foreign players of New Zealand, Las Antillas, England, Australia and Bangladesh were transferred to a safe place in the midst of uncertainty within Pakistan, and, according to the reports, they broke in the gloomy situation. Meanwhile, in IPL, Dhumal revealed that he had a conversation with the contingents of DC and Punjab Kings before the game and assured their safety.
“Everyone spoke with their families at home. Even before the game, we talked to them (both teams), and we assure them that their security is essential for us. They were ready to play the game,” Dhumal said.
IPL 2025 relocation possibilities
Amid the suspension, the Emirates Cricket Board offered to organize the rest of IPL 2025 in Dubai, while the England and Wales Cricket Board also showed interest in the reception. When asked about a possible relocation of IPL 2025, Dhumal didn’t have much to say.
“I am also listening to this. But we have not had any talk with them (other together). I’m glad that countries are willing to organize this Premier tournament,” he said.
