“I was really surprised,” Wadhera admitted. “Before the game, Virat Bhai was standing and chatting with Shreyas Iyer, and suddenly he turned to me and said in Punjabi: ‘Ki Haal Chaal, Nehal?’ I couldn’t believe I remembered my name. “
The 24 -year -old batter, who has impressed in the 2025 season with performances consisting of the average order, said that moment meant a lot for him. Wadhera had previously spoken with the teammates Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav about wanting to speak with Kohli someday, a desire that unexpectedly came true in the best possible way.
“That was the real Rompehielos,” Wadhera explained. “I always thought about talking to Virat Bhai. So when I said my name, I felt that I could finally go to him and have a conversation.”
Wadhera did not waste the opportunity. After the game, he approached Kohli and asked for comments about his game. The conversation turned out to be deeply significant for the young batter.

“It was really good to talk to him. His words gave me satisfaction at the next level and they helped me understand how to address my game better,” he said.
“Virat Bhai told me that he liked the way I hit, especially the process of composure and thought behind the shots. I further praised my decision to attack bowling players because the low score matches are always challenging.
Wadhera recently demonstrated her value with the bat in a rain shock against RCB, where she hit 33 undefeated only 19 deliveries. His blow, mixed with three limits and so many six, helped PBK chasing 96 in just 12.1 overs, ensuring a five wickt victory. The game, reduced to 14 overs per side due to the rain, saw Wadhera calmly guide his team through a tense end.
Until now in IPL 2025, Wadhera has scored 189 races in seven games at an average of 37.80 and an attack rate of 146.51. He has half a century with his name this season and has been fundamental to keep Punjab Kings in the containment of playoffs: they currently feel fifth in the points table with 10 points of eight games.
The Kohli moment may not have come with a bat in hand, but for Wadhera, it was clearly a memorable culminating point in a promising season.
