Virat Kohli has become only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to score 8,000 races or more while pursuing in hate. He achieved the milestone during the semifinal of the 2025 ongoing champions trophy between India and Australia in Dubai.
Sachin Tendulkar leads the list with 8,720 races while pursuing in the 50 -year -old format. At the time of updating this report, India had 141/3 in 28 overs while sought to pursue a goal of 265. Kohli (53) was undefeated with Axar Patel (5) at the other end. Shreyas Iyer was fired by Adam Zampa for 45 in 27. Previously, Steve Smith (73) and Alex Carey (61) had taken Australia to 264.

Kohli is synonymous with rupture of records between formats. In the 2023 World Cup, Kohli surpassed Tendulkar during most of Odi’s centuries when he scored his 50th ton against New Zealand in the semifinal. During the recent game of the Champions Trophy Group phase against Pakistan, Kohli became the fastest batter to score 14,000 Odi races, once again exceeding Tendulkar’s record.

Kohli reached the milestone in his 287th entrance, while Tenekar had done it in 350 entries. Kohli and Tendulkar are among the three batters to score 14,000 races or more in Odi, and the other is the former Sri Lanka captain, Kumar Sangakkara.
