While many cricket fans believe that Pakistan was eliminated from the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 due to the decider between the United States and Ireland, Wasim Jaffer is not among them. Former India Test player Wasim Jaffer believes Pakistan lost entry to the Super 8 due to their loss against the United States.
Pakistan has been eliminated from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The Babar Azam-led team, which was runners-up in the previous edition, has faced a humiliating first-round exit in the T20 WC 2024. Interestingly, the Ireland vs EE .USA Friday’s match was a key match in the Group A round.
With a victory, the United States had a chance to qualify for the next round of Group A. On the other hand, Pakistan wanted Ireland to win the match so they could stay alive in the tournament. However, the weather had another plan as the match was called off due to heavy rain.
Because the game between the USA and IRE was eliminated, the USA gained 1 point needed to finalize their spot in the next round. Now, India and the United States are two teams from Group A that will qualify for the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan lost to the United States and India in the first two matches.
Surprisingly, the Men in Green lost to the United States in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Batting first, Pakistan amassed a decent 159-7 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. However, they were unable to defend their total as the United States also reached the same score after 20 overs. Later, United States, led by Monank Patel, won the match in the super over.
Later, Pakistan also lost to India in their next match. Opting to bowl first, Babar Azam defeated India 119/7 in the first innings. However, they failed to chase the target later with a brutal bowling show by the Indian camp and lost by 6 runs.
With 2 wins in 2 games, Pakistan had a slim chance of qualifying for the next round and it all depended on the clash between USA and Ireland. However, when the game was lost, the United States stole a spot in the Super 8 round along with India.
