Pakistan left-handed bowler Mir Hamza played an exceptional delivery to dismiss Bangladesh opener Zakir Hasan on the fifth day of the second Test.

Zakir Hasan had no response to Mir Hamza’s bowling in the first session of Day 5 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, September 3.

Bangladesh are looking to post 185 runs to complete a historic series win against Pakistan. The visiting team bowled out their opponents for 172 runs in Pakistan’s second innings of the ongoing match.

Bangladesh quickly scored 42 runs in seven overs before stumps on the fourth day in Rawalpindi.

Mir Hamza provided the first breakthrough in the sixth over of the first session on the final day of the Test match.

The left-hander bowled a good length delivery that got away from the Bangladesh opening batsman. The ball went past Hasan’s outside edge and hit the top of the off stump.

The Pakistan player was encouraged after getting his first wicket in Bangladesh’s second innings.

Zakir had to leave for the dressing room after scoring 40 runs off 39 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. Bangladesh lost their first wicket with 58 runs on the board after 12.2 overs.

The official Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) account shared Zakir Hasan’s wicket on its Instagram account with the caption: “Mir Hamza breaks through to take the first hit! 🎯 #PAKvBAN | #TestOnHai”

Pakistan took a 12-run lead in the first innings

At the start of the match, Pakistan scored 274 runs in their first innings. Saim Ayub (58), Shan Masood (57) and Salman Agha (54) contributed crucial half-centuries.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz took five wickets for 61 runs, while Taskin Ahmed took three wickets in his comeback Test match.

Pakistan took a 12-run lead after the conclusion of the first innings of both teams. Litton Das scored 138 runs despite his team falling to 26/6. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also added 78 runs.

Khurram Shahzad took six wickets and Mir Hamza took two as Bangladesh were bowled out for 262.

However, Pakistan struggled to score runs in their second innings. They lost the wickets of Abdullah Shafique (3) and Khurram Shahzad (0) for just nine runs at the end of Day 3.

Saim Ayub (20) and Shan Masood (28) failed to convert their starts while Babar Azam was dismissed for just 11 runs.

Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman put together 55 runs for the seventh wicket. Rizwan scored 43 before being dismissed by Hasan Mahmud.

Salman remained unbeaten on 47 off 71 balls. Pakistan were bowled out for 172 in 46.4 overs. Hasan Mahmud took five wickets and Nahid Rana took four.
