Sydney Sixers batsman Steve Smith produced a magical effort with the bat in the ongoing match against the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. The match between the two teams will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Steve Smith, who was playing his first game in the ongoing Big Bash League 2024-25, made sure to make an immediate impact with the bat and set the stage on fire. The right-hander was at his best and played one of his best innings in the league.
Steve Smith started very slow in his innings, attacked the bowlers after setting up
Smith started off very slow in his innings, but once he got his eye on it, he made sure to hit the bowlers all over the park. The opener oozed class with the bat and hardly put a foot wrong in his innings once he recovered after a shaky start.
Smith first hit a sensational half-century and then made sure to step on the accelerator. The batsman scored a glorious century but also had nervous moments along the way of his ton, especially when he was in his 90s and eager to reach his century.
Smith, at 95 years old, tried to reach his century in style. Jhye Richardson bowled a full delivery outside off, to which the batsman shuffled his feet a long way and went over midwicket. It looked like the ball would go for a six and the batsman would reach his century in style.
But Sam Fanning, who was very into it, gave an amazing effort. He jumped to his right and the momentum carried him over the rope. However, he showed magnificent presence of mind and brought it back into play to save four runs in the process.
