Sarfaraz Khan must have felt aggrieved when he was not included in the starting XI for the ongoing Test match between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
He was part of India’s starting XI for the last Test match and had done well as well. In India’s last Test match, which was the Dharamsala Test match against England, the right-handed batsman had put in a superb knock of 56 runs in just 60 balls.
However, there was no place for Sarfaraz Khan in the squad for the ongoing Test. The reason was the return of KL Rahul. Rahul had missed the last four Tests against England due to injury and he returned to the starting XI immediately.
Even though Sarfaraz Khan suffered a disappointing absence from the starting XI, he did not let the setback discourage him. The Mumbai batsman showed his remarkable discipline and commitment to the game by sweating hard immediately after the end of the third day of play in Chennai.
Shortly after the day’s action ended, Sarfaraz took to the field and was seen working on his fitness with strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai.

India on the verge of a big win:
On the game front, India is just six wickets away from beating Bangladesh and taking an unassailable lead in the IND vs BAN two-match Test series. Centuries from Rishabh Pant (109) and Shubman Gill (119) helped Team India declare their second innings at 287/4 and set a big target of 515 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh got off to a flying start with their openers Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan adding 62 runs for the first wicket. Jasprit Bumrah then dismissed Zakir to break the stand before Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Islam, Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim.
Bangladesh ended the day on 158/4 with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto unbeaten on 51. Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan will resume batting proceedings on day four.
At the start of the first innings, India recovered from 144/6 to score 376 runs thanks to fine knocks from Ravichandran Ashwin (113) and Ravindra Jadeja (86). In reply, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 149 runs.
