Stafanie Taylor ruled out of India series, Deandra Dottin returns

The West Indies women’s national cricket team is currently ranked sixth in the ICC T20I and ODI rankings and the series against India is expected to be a challenge for them.

They will play the matches against India without their star all-rounder Stafanie Taylor, who has been ruled out with an injury. Notably, he is currently undergoing his rehabilitation program and will not be fit in time for the India series.

Meanwhile, Deandra Dottin will return to ODI cricket in the series against India. He recently made his return to international cricket after his retirement in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Maroon Warriors team also saw the return of pacer Shabika Gajnabi and wicketkeeper-batsman Rashada Williams. Notably, the duo were not part of the T20 World Cup squad.

We want to build on the good momentum we got in the T20 World Cup – Shane Deitz

In an official press release, West Indies women’s head coach Shane Deitz said that they want to continue performing well in international cricket following their recent success in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Shane said:

“We want to build on the good momentum we got in the T20 World Cup into this series. We showed that we can compete against the best teams, which was a pleasure.”

Shane further said that there have been many improvements to the team in all areas, but still, there are things that can be done better.

“Since taking office, I have seen improvements in all areas, but we still have a long way to go. “We need to continue working to achieve consistency of high-level performance and this is a good opportunity to play six games against one of the best teams in the world,” he added.

“We want to involve more girls in franchise cricket and look towards India; It’s always good to play against the Indian teams in the IPL. “It’s good for our ladies to start getting their names in front of those people and hopefully open up some opportunities in the future.”
