The Mumbai Indians (MI) obtained one of their most exciting victories of the season against Delhi Capitals (DC). The hitters and bowling players played well, but it was the field that really changed the game. Three runs in a row, a quick stump and a brilliant wickting maintenance of Ryan Rickelton helped Mumbai take control. This great field effort was guided by his field coach Carl Hopkinson.

Who is Carl Hopkinson?

Carl Hopkinson is 43 years old and is currently working with the Mumbai Indians as his field coach. Before this, it was part of England’s male Cricket team as its field coach. He joined the England configuration in 2018 and was part of his great victories in the tournament: the Cifa Over World in 2019 and the World Cup T20 in 2022. He left his role with England in November 2024, just before Brendon McCullum took over the team in all formats.

Hopkinson also worked with the team of children under 19 of England at the beginning of his career. As a player, he was a batter and played most of his Cricket for Sussex. It appeared in 64 first -class games, 92 list a game and 28 T20.

The Mumbai Indians did not have the best of the seasons before this game. Even against Delhi, they headed towards another loss. Delhi was chasing 206 and Karun Nair had scored 89 of 40 balls. They needed only 26 more races to win when everything changed.

Ashutosh Sharma tried to run a second, but he had to turn Jasprit Bumrah around. Will Jacks picked up the ball quickly in Deep Point and sent a perfect release. Ryan Rickelton gathered it cleanly and hit the stumps. Ashutosh was short and Mumbai had an opening.

Then, the substitute gardener Raj Angad Bawa ran from the depths and launched the ball quickly at the end of the striker. Once again, Rickelton was not wrong. Then came the final blow: Mitchell Santner hit the stumps directly from the middle of half of half of half to eliminate Mohit Sharma. Mumbai’s Indians had achieved a racing hat-trick to seal the game.

Rickelton’s maintenance also stands out

Previously in the game, Rickelton had already shown his skills by persecuting Vipraj Nigam in the bowling alley. It was a slow and Rickelton delivery reacted in a second fraction to eliminate the bonds. The referees even verified if he had moved too early, but had control.
