Punjab Kings captain (PBK), Shreyas Iyer, won the raffle and chose to hit first against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before his game IPL 2025 in Mullanpur on Tuesday. However, the decision to hit first has raised some eyebrows, since the teams have often preferred to chase totals this season.

Why did Pbks choose to hit first?

The Punjab Kings captain, Shreyas Iyer, revealed that his decision to hit first was mainly to make the most of his hitters. “First we are going to have a bat, it is simply because we had a discussion what our batting alignment is and we need to take advantage of it.

He also said that it is important that Punjab kings batter as a unit. The kings of Punjab are reaching the back of a 50 -run defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous party. The 2014 IPL Sub -champions had begun with consecutive victories about Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants before the defeat against Rajasthan Royals.

Chennai Super Kings captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, said his team was also looking to hit first. “We were looking to hit first, quite dry Wickt, new conditions for us and we need to adapt as soon as possible. CSK aims to return to winning forms
