
South Africa plans to play a two -game test series against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Friday the team of 16 members for the next two -game test series against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.
The test series against Zimbabwe will take place after the World Championship final of South Africa (WTC) 2023-25 against Australia, in The Lord’s on June 11. The first test between Zimbabwe and South Africa will be played from June 28 to July 2, while the second test will take place between July 6 and 10, July.
While Temba Bavuma will continue to lead South Africa in the series of tests against Zimbabwe, the side presents several newcomers like Dewald Brevis and Lhuan Dre-Prestorius. At the same time, some regular players, including Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Tristan Stubbs, are absent from the South Africa team to face Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe vs South Africa test series is not part of the 2025-27 world test championship cycle (WTC). This is simply because Zimbabwe is not part of the world test championship competition, which consists of nine teams, including India as well.
The final impact of WTC
Another reason for its absence of the team is for its workload management. The four players are expected to appear in the XI of South Africa for the final of the World Testing Championship against Australia, due to which they have been rested for the series against Zimbabwe.
The test series against Zimbabwe will also allow South Africa to prove its bank strength. Proteas have named five players without limit on the team for Zimbabwe tests. These players include Dewald Brevis, Lhuan Dre-Predorius, Leno Senokwane, Codi Yusuf and Prenelan Subrayen.
Australia are the defenders of the World Testing Championship, having defeated India in the 2023 edition final at Kennington Oval in London. The only Trophy of the South Africa CPI was in 1998, when they defeated Western Indies to ensure the title of the ICC Knockout trophy.
