The Australian Management decided to launch the talented young opener Sam Konstas of the XI game for her world test championship championship (WTC 2025) against South Africa in Lord’s. Instead, the Australians have chosen to promote Marnus Labuschagne in the order for the opener’s place for Usman Khawaja partner at the other end. It is understood that Labuschagne’s experience about his teammate played a role in the decision.
From the retirement of David Warner, Australia has experienced with several opening partners for Usman Khawaja, including Travis Head, Steve Smith, Sam Konstas and Nathan McSweeney. However, they have finally made up with an improvised starter in Marnus Labuschagne for the clash of the summit. Konstas, who was out of the previous test series of Australia in Sri Lanka, once again has not been able to find a place.
Justifying the decision, Cummins Australian Captain had said: “It is something that selectors are always wearing (in Konstas to obtain wide opportunities). It is realistically, it is very young and has a long race ahead of him. So hopefully, even if he is not playing, being in the squad is a learning opportunity.”
In the department of bowling, the veteran Bolos player Rapid Josh Hazlewood has been preferred about Scott Boland for the final. Hazlewood will come after winning the recent IPL 2025, where he played a key role to help RCB lift his inaugural trophy after 18 years.
