Vidarbha captain Karun Nair is in top form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, reminding the Indian selectors that he is not done yet amid failures of big names in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024- 25 ongoing in Australia.
Currently, Karun Nair is breaking records with his mind-blowing batting in the ongoing 50-over tournament. The Indian batsman created history during the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 by setting a new world record for most consecutive runs in List A cricket without being dismissed.

Nair achieved this incredible feat on January 3 during Vidarbha’s VHT 2024-25 match against Uttar Pradesh. In a thrilling 308-run chase, the Vidarbha captain played an impressive knock of 112 runs and was dismissed for the first time in his last four innings in the tournament.

His knock of 112 runs was accompanied by 11 fours and two sixes. Over the course of his century, Karun Nair set a new world record, surpassing New Zealander James Franklin to become the player with the most consecutive runs in List A without being dismissed. On Friday, January 3, Nair surpassed Franklin’s tally of 527 runs he made in 2010.
After the right-handed batsman was dismissed by Bihari Rai for 112, for the first time in the tournament, his unbeaten run ended at 542 in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. It was Karun Nair’s fourth consecutive century in the ongoing tournament.
Karun Nair becomes first Indian to score 500+ unbeaten runs in List A cricket
The Vidarbha captain started VHT 2024-25 with an unbeaten 112* against Jammu & Kashmir, followed by a solid 44* against Chhattisgarh. He then scored an impressive 163* against Chandigarh, followed by an impressive 111* against Tamil Nadu and now 112 against Uttar Pradesh.
With his fabulous ton during Vidarbha’s eight-wicket win over Uttar Pradesh at the Vizzy Stadium in Vizianagaram on Friday, Nair also became the first Indian batsman to score 500 or more than 500 List A runs without being dismissed in an innings when it reached 70.

Nair became the third batsman in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 to score three consecutive centuries in the 50-over tournament, joining his former teammate and Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal, along with Punjab opener , Prabhsimran Singh. The 33-year-old led Vidarbha to the top of Group E with 16 points from four completed matches.

In five matches, Nair amassed 542 runs in the ongoing tournament. He now has seven centuries, four of which came in a span of eight days, and 13 fifties in List A cricket. Nair now has 2779 runs to his name in 102 List A games.
Notably, Nair, who last played for India in 2017, made a strong comeback at a crucial time in his career. After going unsold in the IPL auctions for two consecutive seasons, Delhi Capitals (DC) bought the talented batsman for INR 50 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction in November.
This will be Nair’s second time with the Delhi Capitals (DC), having previously played for the franchise in the 2016-17 season. Last year, Nair ended his 11-year association with Karnataka and moved to Vidarbha in 2023, and is now named captain of the ongoing VHT 2024-25.
