Chennai Super Kings bat coach (CSK), Michael Hussey, applauded his newly recruited young people for intensifying in pressure situations and bringing enthusiasm to his team. The two WICKET victory last night against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was only his third in 12 games in India Premier League (IPL) 2025.

“They are very motivated to do well. They have created energy around the group, because when you are in this position, sometimes the energy of the players can go downhill very fast. But this injection of some young people has really vigorized everyone,” Hussey told ESPN Cricinfo.

He revealed how his rough patch in the IPL 2025 in progress insisted on trying new talents. The coach and the Australian team wanted to see which players could support the high pressure of this rich cash and work well to build a strong future for CSK.

“When he reached a stage where we were going to fight to reach the playoffs, there was an opportunity to look at how our future looks. Yes, we obviously have those players who were chosen at the auction, but this was an opportunity to make some explorers, to see a younger talent that was coming, so that they were in the games and those who pass them to the situations of the pressure and look at the pressure.

However, the 49 -year -old agreed that CSK lacked intention in the power game this season and mentioned his efforts to improve it in the next edition. He also admitted that transition phases are always difficult to go through a franchise.

“I agree, it has been an area in which we were below the pair, particularly in the early stages of the season. The injection of youth, they bring that, I suppose, youth exuberance, that freedom, that lack of fear. So yes, it is an area in which we are spending a little time, it is that kind of talent identification. With luck, respect, pay the dividends in the future years.

In a season in which many experienced players failed, including the SUV Ravindra Jadaja and Ravichandran Ashwin, some of the young talents used most of their possibilities to record some shocking performances. The Afghanistan spinner, Noor Ahmad, has been brilliant since the beginning of the tournament. He has climbed 20 WICKETS in 12 games so far at an economic rate of 8.02.

Ayush Mhatre de Mumbai, who replaced CSK Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad after his elbow injury, has also achieved 163 races in five games at an attack rate of 181.11. Its initial heroics also include a 48 ball and 94 coup against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Another replacement, Dewald Brevis, has accumulated 126 races in just four games this season so far.

Despite his victory over KKR, the five -time IPL CSK champion continues to be placed at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points. Then they will face the real Rajasthan in Chepauk on May 12.
