Former Indian national cricket team fast bowler Zaheer Khan is all set to mentor Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As per reports in Cricbuzz, it has been learnt that the 2011 World Cup winner is in talks with the franchise ahead of the upcoming edition of the league.
Lucknow Super Giants are without a coach since the last season. This comes after Gautam Gambhir left the franchise and joined Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2024. Apart from this, Morne Morkel, who was the bowling coach, will also not be there as he is all set to be hired by the Indian team.
Reports claim that Zaheer Khan will serve as a mentor but will also provide assistance to the bowlers. The former India fast bowler will be a key interlocutor rather than a middleman between the players and the franchise management.
