13-year-old sensation fails badly in U19 Asia Cup after becoming Crorepati in IPL 2025 auction

It was at the center of an intense bidding war during the auction.

During the recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction, a 13-year-old cricketer made headlines after becoming the youngest player to be sold, when Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured his services for INR 1.1 million of rupees. He was at the center of an intense bidding war, with RR and Delhi Capitals (DC) fighting fiercely to secure him, but ultimately the former emerged victorious.

However, Bihar prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi failed to live up to his lofty reputation and had a disappointing outing just days after signing the lucrative IPL deal.

Included in India’s squad for the ongoing U19 Asia Cup, all eyes were on him but Suryavanshi could only manage 1 run during the recent match against Pakistan’s U19 team, which the tricolor lost by 43 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi avoids social media to focus on his performance in the U19 Asia Cup

Suryavanshi has shown great potential and recently made headlines by becoming the youngest to score a century in a youth international match, making a 62-ball 104 against Australia Under-19 in Chennai.

While he is now focused on representing India in the U19 Asia Cup, he is putting in extra effort to prepare and stay focused by avoiding social media.

“I’m managing the hype by concentrating on my game. I haven’t been looking at social media at all. At the moment, my aim is to do well in the Aisa Cup, how to win the trophy,” Suryavanshi told Sony Sports ahead of the Aisa U19 Cup clash between India and Pakistan.

For the unversed, Suryavanshi recently marked his T20 debut for Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Rajasthan. Earlier this year, he set a record as the youngest player in Ranji Trophy history, making his debut at just 12 years and 284 days in a match against Mumbai.
